Back to Pilates
When I was young, I was always into sports (ballet, running, volleyball, horseback riding, tennis, etc....). But once I finished my studies and started working, my sport "career" was kind of left on the side.
Moving to Florida was a new start in my life, so it was also the perfect time to go back again to a sport activity. I did not want to do a too intense sport because I kind of gain muscle mass fast and I don't think it looks nice on my body. So what could I try that will make me sweat but build my body in a more "tone" way.
After doing some research online, I became really curious about Pilates (especially Reformer - yes the one with the equipment that looks like an old style torture thing!). I liked the fact that you need to balance your entire body and control each movement to achieve the excercises. Everything is about control and it's a great way to free your mind also!
So I started at a pilates studio in Miami Beach beach and loved it! It was so great to see how fast you can have some results on your body and also how you can improve really fast on each exercices. Working on a computer everyday gives me pain in my right shoulder, but pilates helped me regain muscle on this area and my pain went away. Plus the fact that your entire body posture gets also better in your everyday life. And yes, it makes so sweat like crazy!!!!
Unfortunately, I broke one of my toe and had to stop for a while (after the broken toe episod, the "couch potato" effect also kind of made me stop pilates for a little bit longer time...).
But yes, today I'm back to Pilates and it feels sooooo good! I just found a pilates studio next to my apartment with great equipment and teacher, so now no more excuses ;-)
