Dana Kai - Dana Point, CA
Following the advice of a French lady who lives in Orange County, we went to have dinner at Dana Kai, a Japanese Restautant in Dana Point.
We tried our luck by going there without reservation and were able to get 2 seats at the sushi bar. I love to sit at the bar, especially at a Japanese Reaturant, because you are front row to see what's going on in the kitchen. You can also sit at a table in the main room, nothing fancy there, it clearly shows that people come here for the amazing Japanese food and not for the bling.
A really nice waiter explained us how it works, mainly when you sit at the suhi bar you can just request directly to the chef what you want, which was quite nice (just order your drinks with your waiter).
We paired our dinner with a bottle of Sake, I'm not a huge fan of Sake but my boyfriend made a really good choice with this one, that was sweet and not too strong.
For the dinner, we went for various choices: some poke salad, sashimi, 2 kinds of rolls and fried ice cream as dessert.
The food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, really good and fresh fish, everything was so lite and tasteful, the presentation was gorgeous and staff really helpful and nice.
I just can't wait to go back to this place!
